nike missile silo

this nike missile launch area was last manned by battery b, 2nd battalion, 209th air defense artillery, new york army national guard. since it is government property, i don't particuarly advise anyone going on the property. but if you do, it's pretty neat. there's two silos, only one of which is accessible. once inside, there's a large room and a smaller room. the larger room is where the missile would be on the elevator, ready to be lifted out of the ground and launched. the smaller room is where the phone call from the president would be recieved saying to push the launch button. it's a pretty cool place. somehow, someone managed to get a classic car down there. i'm not a car guy, but if i remember correctly, i think someone said it was a 70's duster. who knows
