the psychiatric center started back in the 1820's as a poorhouse, and became rochester state hospital in 1890. the building we explored was the terrence building, which was added in 1950. the terrence building is anywhere from 18-20 stories tall, depending on how you look at it. it is incredibly difficult to get inside, and security patrols the area very regularly. the insides are in surprisingly good shape for an abandonment. there aren't too many artifacts left, but there is some pretty cool medical equipment up on the upper floors.
