The Broadview Developmental Center

This is quite a unique building. It was built in 1939, and was known as the Broadview Veterans Administration Hospital. It was used primarily for the treatment of Tuberculosis, which was a major threat at that time. For the following 20 years it housed sick veterans. In 1966, the building was handed over to the state of Ohio. It became the Developmental Center, and was used as a clinical care facility for the mentally retarded, including a large number of children. In 1989, the building closed down and all it's patients were transferred to other care facilities or private homes. Then, in 1995, the city of Broadview spent $5 million to build a Rec. Center and community center off of the north wing of the building. It was at this time that the police station was added as well. As for modern times, the building is pretty intact. Hardly anyone explores it because of it's location. Some people have reported seeing a "lady in pink" walking the hallways at night. I don't know if it's haunted or not, all I know is that for about 30 years it was a hospital, so I guarantee that many people have died in there.

This is obviously a rather tricky building to get into, because of it's location. I would not advise you to go in unless you're willing to take the chance of getting caught. Also, it's filled with asbestos, so unless you're wearing a proper mask, you're lungs will get owned in the long run. Asbestos isn't too bad unless you're exposed to it for awhile. So a couple hours inside shouldn't do too much damage. But if you can avoid the asbestos by wearing a proper mask, go for it.
