Columbia Portland Cement factory
The Columbia Portland Cement factory is located somewhere in central Ohio. It's probably an hour's drive east of Columbus.
The factory itself is huge. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the building on the left (with the logo) is approximately 90 feet tall, and the taller building in the center is approximately 180 feet tall.
On June 18, 1985, 62 workers decided to go on an organized strike, in which they were protected by the Union. They were on strike because of unfair working conditions. By law, the cement factory was required to reinstate the workers who participated in the strike.
Columbia Portland Cement refused to reinstate those workers, and were forced to close their doors on July 25, 1991.
Here are two pictures that show the relative size of the buildings.
